Fixing the flow: a turnaround story

After bringing me in to help 20+ teams adopt OKRs, a well-loved British broadcaster asked me to rescue a team in crisis.

Their critical 20-year-old commissioning and scheduling platform, relied upon by millions of listeners, was failing. Releases were a painful, five-day ordeal that happened only twice a year. With obsolete technology and broken team relationships, the organisation had lost hope.

Stepping in as delivery manager and coach, I helped the team to unlock their potential. We clarified priorities, automated manual work like regression testing and deployment, and embedded modern agile and delivery practices. By mapping their value stream and communicating transparently, we exposed bottlenecks and began a cycle of continuous improvement, rebuilding trust with stakeholders along the way.

The results were dramatic. Within months, the team went from a five-day release cycle to deploying changes in just five minutes, every week. Morale soared, stakeholders became vocal champions, and the team wasn’t just working together again—they were enjoying it.
